I've got a weird little ceramic spoon 🥄...I'm not even entirely sure how it ended up in my house. But I use it every single day. It's not some expensive handmade thing but, everyday, it gives me just the right amount of sugar in my coffee. It's this perfect little moment where I get to listen to the ring of the spoon against my mug that just feels so...right. I'm not a handlettering guru like @kdpletters but doodling something is a great little mental reset. It doesn't need to be GOOD, just do something creative and use your hands. Do it...Go. Go now. Do an adult coloring book or play with playdoh or some sh#t. I'm not gonna judge you.

New Product 🎨 I've started making these lightly texted paint pallets and I'm absolutely in love. The texture doesn't affect the function of the pallett as the glaze smooths those transitions but, I've used them as experimental canvases for my celadon glazes which really accentuate the pattern so it pops even though it's relatively smooth. 😍😁🤯 They need the tiniest bit of packaging so that everyone can gather that they ARE paint pallets at a glance. I'm thinking, grouping them together with some of my favorite bamboo brushes or my new brush rests! I'm aware that I spend too much time carving details and layering Sgraffito and glazes on my new work but I've never really known restraint and I can't just leave them feeling incomplete. Plus, I love that moment where the new owner turns the bowl and spots yet another little Easter egg. Packing my work for bisque when I set this piece into a box and heard the classic "ping" potters have grown to know as the sound of "you just done f# ked up." I had to snap a picture of it with the glass cover before it was relegated to the reclaim bin! Pottery is such a cruel mistress. I HAD to make something other than mugs... I just had to...and making vase shapes is SO FREAKING FUN. Nothing is as rewarding to me as making unique, one of a kind, pieces. I love experimenting with forms and shapes and techniques. That's a huge part of the reason each of my works, even when they are similar in shape, have unique decoration that I imagine on-the-spot. Avoiding repetition keeps me inspired. But...over the years I realized that is how we ALL feel. We all want to make unique art and creations and no one wants to feel like they are doing the same thing day in and day out. It took years to see that the professionals and the people grinding to make a stable living in any creative industry NEED repetition and consistency. Think of the restaurant getting rave reviews for one particular dish..but the chef decides to tweak the recipe that night. The customers aren't going to come back once they sense inconsistency and they are going to feel let down. I'm not saying I'm going to ever be able to convince myself to give a whoot about making things IDENTICAL because...I just don't care 😅 but I'll aspire to care for your sake.
